Accumulator Design

Main Task

Your main responsibility is to design the car’s battery container, ensuring every design decision strictly complies with Formula Student rules. You must also guarantee that the design is manufacturable—an impressive CAD model holds no value if it can’t be built. In addition, this role requires good communication with both the powertrain team and other subteams to identify and resolve any potential interferences.

Your Profile

You are confident with using CAD and doing FEM analysis. The battery is a very dangerous item, both in regards to electrical shock and fire risk. You possess the trait of being meticulous and have high respect for safety. The electronics and battery cells will not be your direct responsibility, however good knowledge of high power electronics is a merit but not required. Your design choices will in large terms decide the design and packaging in the car, you are therefore a good communicator with your intentions, ideas and decisions to the rest of the team. Likewise you will need to be responsive to accommodate the people responsible for the cells and electronics within your container. Ideally you have a good balance of experience in electronics and mechanics.
