LFS19

About

In the Autumn of 2018, Lund Formula Student had seen a string of increasingly positive results over the past couple of years, and it was decided once again to continue developing the concept of the previous year’s car. Just like its predecessor, the LFS19 consisted of a carbon fibre reinforced steel space frame, powered by a four cylinder 600cc engine. Key improvements were made to the aerodynamics, exhaust, cooling and electronics systems. It also featured some impressive design features, most notably the 3D-printed aluminium differential mounts, and the serrated leading edges of the endplates.

The team had set two performance targets for the car at the beginning of the year, place in the top 10 at FS Germany, and bring home some event trophies back to Lund. The second goal would be reached, and then some, at the first competition of the team went to, FS Netherlands. The team placed second overall, winning the Engineering Design event, and placing third at the Endurance event. Later that summer at FS Germany the team would meet their other performance target by placing in eight overall, rounding off a very successful season.
