Powertrain Manager

Main Task

You will be the main responsible for the Powertrain of the car. Your main responsibilities are divided into two areas. You are to lead the PT- team and make sure that deadlines are set and fulfilled and that everyone in the group has the resources they need to perform their tasks. You will not have an immediate responsibility for the design, but you will rather be responsible for the Powertrain as a whole which includes guiding the members in their design choices. It is however important that you understand the system in order to detect design incompatibilities. For this reason it is also important that you have an overview of the decisions and workings of the low voltage and monocoque teams. In order to guide your team in their design decisions it is favourable if you have interdisciplinary knowledge in areas such as embedded electronics, power electronics and structural mechanics. You will also be a board member, you will be responsible for making sure that the PT-team is aligned with the overall goals of the organisation as well as representing their interests in relation to the rest of the project. In this role you will also be involved in and take decisions on problems not directly related to PT but to the team and project as whole.

Your Profile

Apart from having an interest in the technical aspects of the Powertrain, you should also have an interest in the organisational aspects of Lund Formula Student. For this role, you should have an interest in leading a group of people in a large scale project rather than having a design responsibility yourself. Being structured, organised and seeing the larger picture are skills which will be important for this task. You should be able to operate more independently and to take much initiative yourself in order to help the subteam and the team. You should have great communication skills, be comfortable in leading a team and always be solution oriented.
